The Browns have signed tight end Rob Housler, general manager Ray Farmer announced Thursday.

Housler, 27, comes to Cleveland after spending the previous four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

Housler, a third-round selection in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Florida Atlantic, caught 105 passes for 1,133 yards and a touchdown in his four years with the Cardinals. Seventeen of his receptions went for longer than 20 yards and 51 resulted in first downs.

Over the 2012-13 seasons, Housler (6-5, 250) caught 84 passes for 871 yards. His 45 receptions in 2012 ranked as the fifth-best, single-season total in Cardinals franchise history by a tight end. In 2013, he accumulated a career-high 454 receiving yards to go along with 39 receptions and a touchdown.

This past season, Housler caught nine passes for 129 yards, good for an average of 14.3 yards per reception.

Housler, who hails from El Paso, Texas, joins a Browns tight end group that includes veterans Jim Dray and Gary Barnidge, who combined to catch 30 passes for 398 yards and a touchdown last season and helped open holes in the run game as the Browns finished fourth in the NFL in rushing touchdowns with 17.
